Put an underscore in the middle of the name. Poor computer gets confused and gives up - unless somebody else has done the same thing! C

I recently entered some royal ancestors to my tree for one of my cousins. They are not my own direct ancestors. My hotmatches ever since have only contained matched on these people. I advise everyone not to enter distant royalty into your tree unless you want your hot matches to be lost for every other section of your tree. I think I will have to remove them.

This is taken from the Help/FAQS section which you can access from the menu on the left. ''Hot Matches looks at each individual in your tree, then it goes through the database and brings back to first 100 matches with these people. This page will refresh approximately every 14 days bringing you the next 100 matches, as long as there names to be matched. We set the limit to 100 matches as any more can be quite overwhelming. The Hot Matches page will show an exact name and year of birth match.''

Hi Caroline, With 'Peter', it probably means that he has been adding names - I have found then when I give someone some information, they re-appear with 1 new match but the old ones also show up. If you have someone in your contacts then mark 'don't show'. Obviously if you have only 50 people in your tree - unless it's the Smith family, you won't get 100 matches each time! Bernie

Does anyone know if Genes Reunited just finds the first 15 or so matches each time it trys and then stops looking? I found that I kept some of the same contacts each time, but the number of matches increased for each of them. I.e. one day Peter could have 30 matches and the next fornight he could have 60! I had not changed the tree in between. Is it a ggod idea to mark correct hot matches as dont show again in order to not have the same family suggested over and over again. This might increase my new and interesting contacts. Also, I find that I work mostly in ancestry these days and just import my tree into here each time it changes. This looses my past hotmatches! This means that it tends to find the most easily found matches all over again, when I already have contact with these people, and only a few new ones. Any tips?
