Well JPEG is a good start it is a compressed file to start. I am no techie either but if you have a photo editor basically a programme which lets you alter photos, look for an adjust option on a toolbar, you should be able to crop it and or resize which might be enough to get it to the size you want. If you crop you will lose part of the photo but you may have edges you can trim. If you go to resize, you should be able to tick a box which says keep in proportion, and can do it in easy stages. Usually file size is also on the same screen so you can get it to the size you want. Perhaps some computer buff can help you more. |

I have just started doing my photos. the best way I found is to decrease the dpi when you are scanning [I have used the lowest quality and the image has been fine.......just dont try to magnify the image!]. Not only does it speed up the process (important when you have dozens of photos to do) but the file size will be smaller. So you should be able to download onto the site |

I have some photos that I would like to add to Genes reunited or my family tree BUT I am unsure to who they are I know that they are part of my family but have no idea of their names etc. I know when adding them to my tree I can put them in the persons profile (add pictures) but is there anywhere on here that I can add them to see if anyone has a matching photo or recognises anyone in the pictures I have myself. Please please help as I am looking for my dads family as he is very ill at the moment in hospital and most of my family I know have passed away and I only have certain names and a vivid memory. Kind regards Maria |
