Her parents married in the Dec qtr of 1909 so this would make her the eldest child. Does that sound right? Rose

Perhaps she was known by her middle name? There are so many Grants in the US you need to get her full name and date of birth to find her. Rose

Janie, I think you need to look through the COMPLETE BMD Index here and find her birth. It's free. http://ancestry.*co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx Rose

Her parents were Miriam Dutton (maiden Williams) and Albert Dutton and we think she was born in Burton (her siblings were). Her older sister was born in j/f/m 1917.

Janie, You best bet is to find out when exactly she was born. This will help you find her in the US. Who were her parents and where was she born? Rose

Hi, thanks for everyones help so far. We've been in contact with distant relatives today (very exciting) and they said Winnie was born about 1919 give or take. They also said Winnie married Norman in the US, so she would've been Winifred Dutton when she left the UK. I dont have access Shirley so it would be great if you could look for me. Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks all!!! Janie xx
