Hi Cheryl glad to have helped !!! now i do use FreeBMD ( also transcribe for them ) but for all the census info, i subscribe to Ancestry..... ok it is about £70 a year, but would be lost without it, Ancestry also do BMD records, that you don't need to pay for, but you do have to search every 1/4 of every year, so can be time consuming!! you need to search parish records for info before 1837, hard i know if you are not from that area, family search is handy, but not always accurate, and take a visit to familyhistoryonline too, they have burial records and others too, its pay per view. you know where we are if you need help, we need to be kept occupied otherwise we have to resort to the housework **slaps wrist for swearing, lol** Jane

I'm completely overwhelmed by all the fantastic information you've given me. I've been using the Free BMD and Freecen sites plus places such as the Mormon Church site etc. I can see that I need to subscribe to a pay site, but which one? Also, how do I go back to periods prior to the census's and the registration of births, deaths and marriages? I'm quite new to this (as is probably apparant!) Many thanks Cheryl

Jane, An odd thing I just noticed - the Nora Williams I traced living with her aunt..................the aunt's name was Ann LLoyd (nee Williams) the widow of Maurice LLoyd. Is it coincidence that Nicholas Jones Williams married Jane LLoyd (or might he have married Mary Griffiths?). Do you think Maurice and Jane LLoyd are brother and sister? Cheryl

Gosh, that was quick! and I've been going round in circles getting nowhere! I've checked Nora's marriage certificate and Charles's status is shown as widower. He was born in Leswalt, Wigtownshire, Scotland 15.11.1878. I don't know when he moved to Worcestershire so he could have married the first time in Scotland, although I had assumed he'd moved when he married. He had 3 children with his first wife; Agnes Jane, Edie and William - but I can't trace their births either. Many thanks for the information you've found for me Cheryl

My grandmother, Nora Williams was born about 1885 in Wales. Her father's name is shown on her marriage certificate as Nicholas Jones Williams (shown as deceased). She married my grandfather Charles Kyle on 14.7.1917 in Kidderminster. I've had no luck tracing her father on census's and the only possible listing I found for her was the 1891 census showing a Nora Williams living with her aunt in Kidderminster. That gave a place of birth as Llanfyllin, Powys. I've been told that she was my grandfather's second wife and that he'd previously married Nora's sister, sending for Nora (possibly in Canada) after his first wife (her sister) died. Can anyone suggest how to find out any more information as I'm totally stuck! Many thanks for any ideas Cheryl
