Should I be notifying 'mistakes ' on record sites?

Also report any errors that you might find on FreeBMD as they do check and will alter if a genuine mistake has been made. Maureen |

At present, the only corrections Ancestry deal with are to a person's name. But they do deal with them.........I've notified a lot, and they are gradually posting the corrected versions on the site. It does take a while.....don't expect it to be done the next day....... Reg |

I haven't done anything about mistakes on ancestry But I have had 2 records rectified on the C ommonwealth graves site They had mispelt the area my husbands Dad came from and also their was a mispelling in the place name in the Channel islands my dads cousin came from It took a few weeks but both were rectified Will try it on ancestrry they have my grandfathers place of birth wrong on the www1 pension records Bren |

Hi, I don't seem to have Comments & corrections in either of the drop down menus? But I'll keep looking now i know its possible- thanks! Ah, I've seen the sticky notes as i browse around THANKYOU. found it and made my first correction |

I'm surprised at how often I see mistakes (on Ancestry records for example) Sometimes spelling errors, sometimes transcription. For instance I'm looking at someone listed as 'John' when the actual image says 'Ann' and the age is in the female column. I once had a whole family transcribed wrong- came on them by sheer luck. Should I be reporting these to someone so the next person isn't stumpted? |
