Thanks for all the advice, I will bear in mind the Findmypast tip. I did find Temple Street thanks to your help and there was a Mary Tooney about the right age living at No 2 Court but the rest of the family were not in the position they were in the 1881 census (two doors up from the Crown pub) so the question is where were they (if not hiding under a table) and under what version of their surname were they enumerated. I haven't quite given up but its getting close Thanks again Chris

1891 census can be searched by address on Findmypast but you need credits to view the results. There are over 20 schedules listed for 1 Temple Street - such as 1 Turners Yard, Temple St or 1 Court 1 etc. Maureen

I was busy updating when you replied thanks a lot to both of you. I will try trawling as you suggest I just want to make sure the pages were missed off as I've looked for 1881 neighbours of my relatives on the 1891 and can't find any of them either. Chris

Some of them did finish up in Bradford, so if you find a connection with Pontefract please get in touch! Just been thinking, if you click on the census year you need, then click on the county, then the town, it will bring up the enumeration districts. If you look through them it usually gives you the street names from each district. Its a bit easier than scrolling through, but not much! Good luck. Just been reading the reply above and I think she has beaten me to it, sorry!

Hi if you look at an original census image on the top it says search>census> etc click on the county this will bring up all the parishes click on the parish you want then you get a list of the districts click on description to get a list of roads etc then all you have to do is trawl through them! there is probably a much easier way but i dont know how

Not Pontefract as far as I know, Bradford and Askrigg I think but not really done much on OH's side yet - enough trouble with my own! Chris

Can't answer your query Chris sorry, but I just wondered if you were connected to the Heseltine's from Pontefract?

Is it possible to search a census by an address (Town and ward) on Ancestry or any other site? I have found no 52 Temple Street Wolverhampton on 1891 on RG12/2226 I am looking for no 1. Can I search by the RG number - I thought I might put RG/2224 or 2225 in and see what I get but I dont get any results is it because it needs a name? I can't use the green arrows at the top because they stop at no 1 of 27 and won't go back any further. Any other suggestions welcome Thanks Chris
