I am trying to find the birth reg of a Minnie Chambers born about 1865 to order her birth cert. On the all censuses it says she was born in 1865 in Bethnal Green. The only Minnie Chambers I can that was born in 1865 was a Minnie Jane Sophia Chambers, so I ordered that cert and it was the wrong person. Her marriage cert arrived today - she was 19 in December 1883 so she must have been born about 1864. If anybody can see anything I can't (maybe spelling mistake), I would be very grateful. Thank you Vicky

Hi Vicky, Are you sure she was registered as Minnie? When she married she would not have had to produce a birth certificate so may have used her known name. x

Hi Victoria It wasn't compulsory to register births before 1875, so there may not be a cert. Angela

Thanks for your replies, on all censuses she is down as Minnie and also marriage cert I know that you didn't have to register births until 1875, but I can always hope! . Does anyone know what Minnie could be short for, if anything? Thanks Vicky

Hi Jo, thanks for that. I have just gone on Ancestry and it is saying there is no Minnie Chambers born in 1863. What did you put in? Vicky

Hi Victoria, In my tree I have someone who was known as Minnie, but whose 'given' name was Mary Jane. Don't know if that helps. Bx
