Elaine I have come across the same thing. My Grandmother died in Whiston Hospital, Lancs. The address given as her place of death was the hospitals - with no indication that it was a hospital. it just says, 1 Whiston Road. Also the informant was 'the occupier' turned out to be the Master of a workhouse that was part of the hospital. If you put the address in 'Google' it might come up with the name of hospital - thats what i did. Maureen

Hi Elaine, it could have been a member of staff. You could try and find out what kind of hospital it was. If you have the name try the National Archives site as they have a Hospital Records Database Jennifer

can anyone help me to understand what the following means; just got a death certificate which tells me my rellie died in hospital and the informant was a chap who where it says qualification it says occupier and where it says usual address it gives the name of the hospital does this mean another patient registerd the death ? would it of been some kind of place for the mentally ill ? or would it of been a male member of staff that lived in ? this was in 1971. baffling !
