Deleting messages/contacts - I don't understand

This is how it used to work until the latest upgrade two weeks ago - I think, if I understand you right. :-) You could delete messages in the inbox and sent box and they would remain in the contacts list for the contact concerned. This is how I used to use the system; I just kept messages in my inbox which still required a response, relying on the contacts list to keep all the correspondence in one place. This is why I was so alarmed when all of a sudden there were no messages attached to any of my contacts when the upgrade took place (but they have now all reappeared, thank goodness). To get rid of the messages in the contacts list, I assume you have to delete the contact, as before, but if that contact reappears in your list for some reason, I would think that all the messages reappear with that contact too. Again, if you delete the contact but don't specifically delete the messages in the inbox and sent box, those latter messages remain, as they did before, despite what it says about deleting a contact will delete all messages from them, etc., etc. It never did, or at least it didn't for me. This is how I think it still works, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it all out yet - I haven't had a message since before the weekend! ;-) Chris

It seems we do. I have done the same - deleted the contacts but the messages still remain in the in and sent boxes,

I have just cleaned up my messages, deleting all the messages I have received in the last few days, which are not related to family history. Fine. but then I look at 'Contacts' - the deleted messages are still listed there, and I have deleted them again. Does this mean we have to delete everything twice - once from our general message list, and once from our Contact list? OC
