I have been trying to find out where my g grandfather Charles (Chas) Ibbott b. 1866 disappeared to. Brenda Mills kindly found him on a ship sailing to Australia in 1909. 2 of his sons moved to Oz in 1912, 1923 and whilst 'googling' I found a book had been written about one of these sons. Heather Positive Thinker helped me locate the book which has now arrived. Brilliant! No info in the book about him though, in fact Charles is not even named as the father, the step father is! Interestingly, a young man from South America has contacted me, saying he and his brothers are the only ones in his country with the surname Ibbott. He is the g grandson of Chas Ibbott, who came from England, went to Jamaica and married Hanna Vigrant. Are they the same man? How do I pursue this line of investigation? |
