Ladies, thankyou for your replies. I haven't yet tried the web addresses, but I will. So many of the places you've mentioned 'ring bells' - Caxton, Gamlingay and St. Neots - many of my relatives were born, lived or died there. However, although the 1841 Census says they were both born in Cambs., I've a feeling that they may have been born in Beds. Yet another county to investigate. Thanks again, M. Steer

My Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandfather, William Splevins/Spleven/Spleving, born c1799. According to 1841 Census (Croxton) he was born in Cambridgeshire and his wife's name was Laetitia (Lety) also born in Cambs. I don't know Laetitia's maiden name - so that's a brick wall. Although, I think I may have found William on the Burial Index, I cannot find him on the Baptism or Marriage Index for Cambs. I'm going round in circles - can anyone help, please. M. Steer
