If he isnt named, he isnt named, 'end of' really! Short of asking birth mum, who is likely as not dead anyway.... |

You say you are trying to trace your mother's adoption but go on to give us the date of her birth and adoption and her birth mother's name. Surely this means you have already traced her adoption? What info are you now trying to find. If it is a family tree for her birth mother then it will mean searching for Dorcas' birth on the GRO index then buying her certificate and tracing back in the normal way. Equally you might be able to trace Dorcas' and her family forwards by trawling the indexes to see if she married and had children later. If it is details of your mother's birth father or the circumstances of her birth you may never know, unless of course Dorcas or someone close to her is still alive and willing to share family secrets. Good hunting |

Em Given the info you have, other than no-one knows where she went ,its no different to tracing anyone else after 1901 - you know she married, that is more than a lot know. |

Have you tried looking up to see if her mum had any brothers and sisters - you might be able to track down cousins etc. Have you also checked to see if there were any other siblings?? Look at the adoption hints / hugs thread - that might be useful. liz |
