You could find the record in the records office - not everything gets transcribed onto the IGI. We went to Huntingdon Record Office on Friday and found lots of the Lamb family which were not given in the IGI - the registers hadn't been fully transcribed. So there is hope for you! While you are there search the wills - I find that they tie families up very well in the absence of census returns.

Hi, there wouldnt be a marriage certificate that early - not til after Sept 1837. The only thing you can do is check the parish registers and pray he married in the same parish as he was born - and then work backwards looking for him. Good luck.

Trying to find birth/death records for Robert Penny c1764 from Somerset. I know he married Ann Horler on 21st Sept 1795 in Radstock, no mention of parents or birth on marriage cert. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks
