do we know name of boarding house as I think in 1901 he was an orphan as both parents died 1899-1900

Maureen, I did check last night to see if I could see the name of the school .................... but all it shows was the street address that Reggie gave you (78/79 Buckingham Rd), and the fact that the Head of the 'family' was Thomas Read, Schoolmaster No further information available

As Charles was born c1871/2, it is possible that his birth wasn't registered. It didn't become compulsory until 1875....... Reg

It is possible he was not registered but all the other children I have found were all registered but there is a gap of a few yrs between Charles and my great grandfather who was b1878 they were all born in Sussex
