Anthony if she had the same surname as her mother she was probably illigitimate. Have you found her on the 1901 census? Georgina.

I am trying to do a family tree and my wifes grandmother a Charlotte Littlewood born 1892 Sheffield her mother was called Jane Littlewood - what i would like to know or find out is who is Charlottes father ( was it a James Wallace who Jane was housekeeper for and living in) or was it someone else her husband perhaps who,s name is not known in Eckington where Jane was born. Charlotte would not disclose any details to us when she was alive she wanted to keep everything hush hush. please help me if you can it would be gratefully received.

1901 census..James Wallace is down as married but jane is single & his housekeeper. Have you got Charlotte's birth certificate?
