Searching for relatives from Sri Lanka and how do

Well there are some very helpful members on here from Aus, so I would firstly change the heading of your thread to something like 'Da Silva family arrival in Australia, can you help please?' This will attract the attention of those with the specific knowledge. As always, best to go backwards from events and in this case if you found how/when they arrived it may help you go further back. Good luck. BTW, Whats an 'independent ship'? |

Hi all I have some relations which were originally from Portugal and emmigrated to Sri Lanka then moved to Australia in the mid 1800's. Their surname was D/De/Da Silva ?? but was later changed to Silva (so I was told) Also apparently they came out here in their own boat. How would I even begin to 1. search for them in Sri Lanka and 2. find out when they arrived in Australia. please help! |
