I would have thought the county records office in Lincoln would have the details from the churchyard if the church haven't still got them. Kath. x

If they haven't got details of the grave, have they got details of the funeral service? Could you check with any local funeral directors? Maybe it was a cremation and the ashes were taken by the family for private scattering. Can't think of anything else to suggest. Does the church have a sexton's book? We found the plot number for my husband's baby brother in a disused churchyard, by contacting the vicar of the nearest church who was holding the book from the disused churchyard. Kath. x

Maybe a local paper for that time would have a family announcement regarding the funeral service and might hold a clue. I was also going to suggest that a church service might have been followed by cremation, elsewhere. Gwyn

What about contacting funeral directors in the area. i have found them very helpful when making a phone enqury. If you find the right one they may have further details or can confirm that is was a burial.

Paul I am in Lincolnshire, so if I can do any newspaper archive look-ups in Lincoln Library let me know. There is the Spalding and South Lincs Herald which covers that area, but you would have to try and track down any archived copies as I don't know how long that paper has been in circulation. I suppose they may be held in Spalding, local library's are very good at look-ups, usually for just a few pence a copy, especially if you have the date. Then as suggested you could maybe get the name of the undertakers and take it from there. Gail. x

I would go along with trying to find funeral arrangements in the local daily paper. Was she a widow? Might she have buried in the same place as her late husband? Jay
