Im not referring to anyone on GR by the way!! On a local newspaper forum, there is a lady in America wanting to find her daughter, in England. Other people on the site were posting daft replies etc, and I felt sorry for her, so I gave her some advice on sites she can use, electoral roll, BMD marriage index etc. I've just received an email of the most abusive nature telling me 'If you have nothing constructive to say keep your nose out'!!!!! I'm stunned.

That is terrible, was the abusive email from the lady seeking help? Georgina.

No wonder her daughter dosen't want to stay in touch, some people have no manners. Georgina.

Sounds to me as if she wants 'someone' to give her an immediate answer and has no intention of doing any work herself......Your giving very helpful suggestions as to how she could do it herself wasn't what she was after. Chris

Its horrible when all you are trying to do is help and people treat you like that. Hope you are not feeling too hurt by it. Kindest regards Maureen

Very strange indeed! I wonder if she perhaps sent the message to you by mistake - perhaps her message was intended for one of the real time wasters, eh? Athena

Sorry, went to pick kids up! Well I'll just stick to Genes now anyway, the people on here are lovely. It'll be a sad day if the site ever closes, I'm sure people have made real friendships throught the site. x

You aren't in the Coventry area by any chance are you? We had one of these in our local paper - a real sob story. I located the daughter only to be told very boldly that she didn't want anything to do with her mother. Could it be a case of 'like mother like daughter?' I wouldn't worry. People like that are really not worth bothering with - as long as you know you have behaved honourably, that's all that matters. Sheila

I agree with Shelia! People like those are not worth bothering about and if like me you are really interested in helping people out of kindness it is really hurtful i know it has happened to me on many occasions. I cant always understand why but has my old nan used to say, 'manners and politness don't cost anything!!

I agree there are some really nice people on here who are willing to help others, but dont let that person be rude and get away with it, she will only be rude to someone else. Answer her and let her know how you feel. David

I'd do two things: 1) email her and ask her why she's such an ungrateful old cow when all you were doing was trying to help and 2) Post her reply on that newspaper forum so others know what they're dealing with. Rose

I just wonder if perhaps she misunderstood your help. May have thought I already know all that stuff so why is he being so sarky. Just another point of view! lol Gerry :-))
