I have one of my ancestors on the census years from Edenham Lincs year c1826 well I have looked in the records for the parish registers and I can't find him anywhere, did you not have to be baptised in 1826? Sue |

Nobody HAD to be baptised although most people were. The parish registers are for Church of England baptisms - other denominations had their own registers, |

I guess you looked at any born to the right named parents? I mean it could be a boy baptised in one name then went on to use a different name when he was older. |

You took the words out of my mouth Heather! lol.... I have a few like this in my tree..... they were known by different names later on, often middle names. It can be frustrating, I know, but hang onin there! Laura |

11 years on, I'm still looking for some proof of my 2 x great grandfather's parents. Fair play to the man, he doesn't change his mind about age or birthplace on the various census returns.... but I can't find him in parish records. There is a couple with the right ( unusual) surname having children baptised in the right parish. 'Dad' has the same trade as did Henry, later on. There is even a convenient gap between other children's baptisms, .... but no Henry there or in the surrounding parishes. Each time I go to the Record Office, I think 'This might be the day that I find him '... but it's not happened yet. Gwyn |
