I just want to say how great the lady was today at the Essex Police Museum. I called this morning to enquire about the information they held on the brother of my 3x great grandfather who joined in 1840 - and was one of the first officers to join. I was expecting her to say I could get the information for x amount of pounds etc. But she said that as he was one of the first to join they didn't have much information on him and read everything they had on him out to me over the phone. It was still a fair amount of information and was very interesting! I urge anyone who has Essex Police in their ancestry to try here: http://www(.)essex(.)police(.)uk/offbeat/o_mu_01(.)php Just remove the brackets.
