So it says Column 1 - 17 JAN 1774 19 JAN 1774 Column 2 - George Methven Helen Craig Column 3 - Theophilus Column 4 - George Methven Helen Craig Theophilus Lambart I'd be inclined to think that Theo Lambert is either a witness, a church offier (writing the entry down) or perhaps the minister? Are any of the others on the page similar? Do they all have three names in the last column? I dont have any Dundee OPR's of i'd take a look at them to compair, all OPR's are different though (which can be a pain). Mhairi

Hi Jodi may be at the top of the column it says father and mother and all the others on the page are not the same name as the parents i think you may be right Thanks Tracy

This is a complete guess, but it may be in regards to Godparents?!?

Hi Tracey Just viewed the image. I have viewed a few OPRs, but not one like that before. It looks like the last column could be witness at baptism. Have you looked on IGI, as there is submitted records on there for this birth. Julie

Hi Julia it is actually the the book page from the parish i have others around the same date , i just cant figure out who theo lambart is and why it says his name under father and mother on some of the others on the page it states aunt or cousin under the name but nothing under theos Tracy

I thought that before 1855, you only got the parish records i.e. a small note declaring the birth of the child and naming the parents, with the fathers occupation and address, but that was about it? I may be wrong as my earliest birth is in 1827.

Hi i hope some one can help me i have found a birth on scot people Theophilus Methven born 17/01/1774 It has four columns 1st is date of birth and bap . 2nd is says parents which gives their names as george methven and helen craig 3 it says children which is theophilus 4th it says fathers name and mothers and it gives the name theophilus lambart my question is who's father is he ??
