Thank you so much, I can't believe I didn't think of that! I have just looked at where the groom's family were living in 1851, and it's the same parish as family no 2! Thank you Vicky X

A bit more weight towards the family of William and Susan/ Susanna.... In 1841, that William is shown as a shoemaker ....but the William with Ruth is an Ag. lab. Gwyn

Do you have the witnesses names from the marriage certificate? Are they family members, or if not can you find the witnesses living close to either of the families? I would be inclined to think you are right about the family that have names that Sarah used for her daughters. Kath. x

I'm stuck and I really don't know what to do. I have a relation called Sarah Bryan born in abt 1829 in Northampton, from her marriage cert in 1849 I have her father's name William Bryan who is a shoemaker (who wasn't in Northampton!). I now have two possibilities of which one is my Sarah's family from the 1841 census:William and Ruth Bryan with daughter Sarah born in 1829 or William and Susan/Susanna Bryan with daughter Sarah born in 1830. I do think there is more possibility that the latter is correct as Sarah gave one of her daughter's the name Matha (family 2's daughter's name) and one of her daughter's middle names in Susan. Can anybody give me any advice as to where to go from here? I obviously want to make sure I have the right family, so any advice would be great. Thanks Vicky
