Im just jealous that people find theirs on the IGI - Norfolk wouldnt hand any records over so most of the stuff on their for Norfolk and there is very little, is submitted. |

These are known as the J and K series. I used to know the reason for this, but I have forgotten it. It has something to do with how the LDS transcribed various records - you do the boys, I'll do the girls. There are of course, both boys AND girls on the original registers! OC |

I've just been searching for a very unusual name - only 33 came up - all in the same area. I looked at a batch number (only 1 came up), then went back to my original search only to find there were only 27 names!!! Where had the other 6 disappeared to???? maggie |

Has anyone noticed the following: Sometimes when I search for a family in a parish, I get a list of girls born of that surname and no boys' names. This happened last week - my husbands g-g-g-grandfather wasn't given, nor his brothers, but his sisters were. When I went to the record office (Huntingdon) they were all there. It appears the boys weren't transcribed/entered. Today I'm searching for Kerri - I looked at Bennet(t)s from Bakewell between certain dates. Only girls have come up! I'm sure boys were born between the dates concerned! Has anyone else noticed this or something similar? |
