Hi fiona, You might not have lost your tree. Some packages automatically open the last tree that you used. You can can try File, Open, and see if your original tree can be opened instead. I never open a tree from someone else in my main program (FTM), I have downloaded PAF from the LDS website and use that to view other peoples' GEDCOMS. I am sure there is a way of recovering the tree. Let me have more details, cos I have a wizard contact who is good at these things. Regard Margaret |

Hi Fiona, I received your message - if you just do ''Add reply'' you can put your message directly on to the thread. It seems that Fiona has imported her gedcom directly to GR. Unfortunately this has the effect of overwriting the previous tree, so I'm afraid to say you have lost it for good, unless you have a copy of it somewhere. You might want to use a family tree program such as FTM on your computer at home. This way you can keep several trees and if someone sends you a file you can look at this or even add it to your own without over writing anything. |

Which program are you using and have you actually imported the file or just opened it? |

Hi I've just imported a GEDCOM file that someone else sent me. It was information on one side of my family tree. I did not realise it would delete my original tree. I have lost loads of my ancestors. Is there anyway to find this information? |
