Why is it when I try and put a mother/wife into my tree I get 2 boxes up. One with the details of the wife/mother in and the other with just the word mother in it. How can I stop this from happening please Chrissy

Hi Chrissy, I'm not sure about that, why they have 2 boxes I mean. I thought maybe its because someone can be a mother without being a wife, can't they. In other words today people have a partner if not married and a wife if they are married. Also someone can just have a child and the father of the baby is not with them after the birth This may be the answer, someone else may know for sure though. Betty

Is this what you mean? _ When you enter someone on GR and then click to add parents two boxes automatically appear, one for father and one for mother. If you enter the father's details and then click the link from him and add a wife you will then end up with two boxes - one with the details which you have entered, and another which just says mother and has no details added. Moral of the story, you don't need to add wife/mother - instead , click on the 'mother ' box and and add her details in that.

Judith Have tried what you said, but I still get 2 boxes up, infact I have now given up updating my tree on GR and will stick to a site that actually works.
