I have got hold of marriage certificate for my deceased mother with the words father unknown, she was wed at 20 could the unknown be a way around the law. peter

Id have thought Peter she could have done it more easily by just adding a year to her age or giving a false name for her dad. Have you got mums birth cert?

Not been able to get birth certificate my mom was born in Glasgow she died when i was aged 2 in 1958

I dont know much about Scots ancestors Im afraid, but Im sure someone on here could point to where to find her birth certificate ref and you could then buy it and find the details on there. Why dont you put a new thread on with the heading 'How to find a Scots birth cert 1926 please' Good luck

Hi Peter, No you don't need any reference, if you know when and where she was born(parents names would also help) then you can order the certificate from Scotlnds People. Betty

Peter You had to have parental consent to marry under 21years old .so in the absence of a father her mother or some other legal guardian would have signed the consent forms Bren

Peter Ive been trying to find more info for you - sorry I dont have any scottish rellies so no experience. Two kind souls passed this to me : From the website; There are 4 options for obtaining an extract of an entry on the birth, death or marriage registers: Apply in person at New Register House, and we will send you a copy of the certificate within 5 working days. If you make your application before 13:00 you can request a priority copy which will be ready for collection by 16:00 that day. Apply in writing and we will send a copy within 10 - 14 days. If you request our priority service we will despatch the copy within 1 working day by first class mail. Apply at the local Registration Office where the birth, death or marriage was originally registered. Apply by telephone to New Register House using our Certificate Ordering Service (Tel no: +44 131 314 4411). __________________
