May be something like ulcers and he had been treated for them by the doctor for that period of time.

Karen on a death certificate when a length of time is mentioned it usually means the patient has been treated by a doctor for at least that amount of time. I have a great grandfather who died of a heart condition & on his death certificate it says 4 years, so he was being treated for at least 4 years for a heart complaint. Maybe they didn't treat your rellie for the right complaint & he ended up dying from internal bleeding? Georgina.

Gosh, that sounds really horrible! Is it actually possible to bleed to death over 10 months? And if so, how would they know it had been going on for that long?

Karen it sounds like he slowly bled to death & had the condition for at least 10 months. Georgina.

Good morning everyone, I've just received a death cert for my 3xgreat-grandfather. The cause of death is given as 'Internal haemorrhage' & then underneath is written '10 months'. Does anyone have any idea why?
