IGI question

When the IGI gives you a result such as baptised in westhoughton lancs how do i find the parish the child was baptised in? Danny

Danny Westhoughton will BE the parish. But if you mean how do you find out what the parish church is called (something which they never put on the IGI, for some reason!) then click on source, then film notes, and that should tell you which church it is. Another way is to make a note of the batch number (begins with C, for christenings) then go to Hugh Wallis site (google it), choose Lancashire, W page and see which churches he has listed for Westhoughton. Hope this makes sense. Come back with a name if it doesn't, and I will look for you. OC

Westhoughton was a Chapel of Ease, in the Parish of Deane, until 18-something or other, when it (Westhoughton) got its own parish church. OC
