It can be a name in it's own right. I know the actress Minnie Driver is called Amelia. Kath. x

My Aunt was Minnie which was short for Wilhemina. Regards Shiela

I also have a Wilhelmina but was known as Minnie. Kath, I did not know that Minnie Driver's name was really Amelia....interesting...!!!

my sister and mother's name is minnie, as a complete name. however my gt grandmother was called minnie, but on some census returns is down as mary.

I've a 'Minnie' in my tree, who's given names were Mary Jane, and another who was just 'Minnie'. Bx
