Hi everyone xxxx I am desperately trying to trace family members in Canada and havn't fot a clue where to start. The parents were Charlie and May Patterson (sorry don't know her maiden name) he was born around 1910 ish (sorry not sure of that date either) Charlie was either born in Liverpool then moved to Canada or was born in Canada (im sorry its a nightmare I know) Charlie served in the Canadian Army during ww2 and was often stationed in Nottinghasm and stayed with his half brother (my grandad) I do know for definate thier children tho were Barbara Patterson b canada in 1936 and twins Billy and Dorothy Patterson born Cananda in 1940. How would I go about tracing Charlie & Mays children? Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated. Luv Angie xxxxx

Hi Rose xxx His mums name was Annie Sophia Patterson (im presuming she used that name) born 1873 in Nottingham UK her previous married name was Binch, her maiden name was Linacre. (sometimes spelt lineker) Charlies father is some what of a mystery all I know is that he was Patterson he was born in Ireland and at some time came over to the UK to Nottingham then went to Liverpool. (where my great nanna went with him leaving my great grandad and grandad behind) her parents then brought up her 2 kids So Charlie is thier child (I hope im making sense lol) I do know that Charlie was living at the Old Post Inn at Whitney Ontario Canada with his wife and 3 children (barbara b 1936 and twins billy & dorothy b 1940) And this little bit of info has taken me a year to find out lol. Hi - try putting in Whitney Ontaria and seeing if they have their own local history/news website. Many places have - I found relatives this way. There is always someone in an area who will remember a family etc. Worth a try Good luck Eileen

also - if he was in the Canadian army then there will be a record of him in their archives. I actually had the person I was searching for's army number so mine was easy - however it would be worth trying their army records place to see if they have a record of him, they will be able to tell you if he is still alive. Can't remember the correct name and address of the records office, but Canada house in London will be able to tell you, just ring them up Eileen

Don't see them in 1911. Did Annie move to Canada too? Where did she die? Rose

Hi thank u everyone xxxxxxxx ive tried the Ontario cemetary (well one off them) and didnt find anything. Ive tried a Army records and didnt get very far (i think I was doing something wrong but will try again in the morning lol) Im not 100% sure that Annie did go but ive never been able to trace her death in the UK so im presuming she did go to Canada from Liverpool. (none of my aunts or uncles ever saw her neither did my eldest surviving rellie Wally Binch mums cousin whos 85 now) ive tried IGI but nothing comes up for the family at all. Now mums told me tonight to try Toronto but that may be cus thats the only place she knows in Cananda lmao bless her. Not much to add, but here's a site for Whitney/Airy: http://www*township.southalgonquin.on.ca/about.php (replace * with .) Whitney, Ontario From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Whitney is a community in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in the municipality of South Algonquin, as part of Airy Township (incorporated in 1962), Nipissing District, Ontario. This is a wonderful site! I didn't see Patterson's, but then I didn't check that many cemeteries. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb*com/~murrayp/ There are very few Canadian records on IGI. For privacy issues, Canada chooses not to release them.

Dear Angela Please go to: www.automatedgenealogy.com which is the Canadian Census's for 1911, 1906, 1901 - You can search by first and last name for the whole of Canada if you like. I use it all the time! It is free!.... however, do note that if your relatives are on our prairies, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.. they would be listed as 'The Territories' Totally searchable, and again free are the following: Manitoba has a terrific website web2.gov.mb.ca/cca/vital/Query.php which is that provinces' Dept. of Vital Statistics. . The government of British Columbia 's web site is: http://search.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/sn-5BC6087/gbsearch/Births,Marriages,Deaths and the Province of Saskatchewan site is being developed, but I am sure that it will be more complete soon. It is: http://vsgs.health.gov.sk.ca/vsgs_srch.aspx Also, if you need to check addresses and telephone numbers for the whole of Canada, it is free at: Canada411.ca Good Hunting! A Canadian Researcher
