What exactly are you looking for - are you trying to work backwards from George Blakeman or are you looking for his descendants? Sam x |

Well, if you are tracing backwards you shouldnt have a big problem at this stage, you have the marriage date? You can look up the reference for it (free) on the ancestry complete index. You then buy the marriage certificate for £7 from GRO online to find the fathers of both then move backwards through census and certificates. If you want help on here you need to give EVERY detail you have about the person you are looking for - his year of birth, where he married, who he married (first time), where he was born etc. |

These are all the George Blakemans on 1901 England census whose birth year is 1896 +/-2 I am assuming that the person in question was born in England................ George Blakeman Walter, Emily abt 1894 Bedfordshire, England Son Bedford St Mary Bedfordshire George Blakeman Thos H, Jane A abt 1897 Sunderland, Durham, England Son Sunderland Durham George Blakeman George T, Jane E abt 1894 Cheddleton, Staffordshire, England Son Dilhorne Staffordshire George Blakeman Horatio, Mary A abt 1898 Kenley, Staffordshire, England Son Hanley Staffordshire George Blakeman John, Eleanor E abt 1895 Ellington, Warwickshire, England Son Kineton Warwickshire George L Blakeman George H, Eliza P abt 1894 Bayswater, London, England Son Deptford St Paul London His marriage cert will give you an idea of when he was born, and will also provide the name and occupation of his father, enabling an informed search to be made. If you go here: http://www*ancestry*co*uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd*aspx (replace the asterisks with full stops) Use the COMPLETE index to find the marriage and then take a note of the year, quarter, vol, page and district. You then go to GROonline and enter those details to buy the certificate for £7. It will give you both fathers and their occupations, where the couple was living at the time of the marriage, their ages or of full age, their occupations and the names of the witnesses. This is the only way you can progress your research - by finding out his fathers name and occupation and then hopefully tracing him as a child in his fathers household and then moving backwards through certificates and census until you hit pre registration 1837. |

I also had a PM from Marie.... I advised her how to add messages to her thread........and that she needs the marriage cert. There is no way to progress this query without it............ Reg |
