Hi Everyone Its been a while since I have been on here. Hope everyone has been OK. I had a letter from Ancestry today saying they now have WW1 army records on line. Has anyone used these? If so could you tell me if they were any good as I dont know whether to renew my membership or not. Have I missed anything? How is the progress for the 1911 census going. Thankyou (in advance) Jayne |

Do you mean the British Army WWI Pensions? Ancestry only have surnames beginning with A and B so far. Maureen |

Ancestry say they will have all other initials online by end of year. Perhaps best 2 wait a while i think. I joined ancestry thinking i'd get ww1 records, but with surname beginning with O i'll have to wait a while... lol Laura. |

I've found my husband's great grandfather on there and there is a lot of info given on the record including place of birth, wife and children's names, address, details where posted and when and why he was discharged. Jeannie |

The medal cards are also available from the National Archives wesite for the same £3.50. The search is free but they charge for the download. The medal cards are in groups of 6 so when I downloaded the record for my great-grandfather F J Milburn, I also got 5 other F Milburns so if you're not sure which one is yours make sure he's not on the same sheet before you download another! |

Hi I was lucky i found my father grt uncle on it ( the name began with A) I found that he fought in the Boar war then joined up for ww1. On the first one his dad was next of kin which i knew. Then his sister was N K on the other. I thought she had vanished of the face of the earth, but she had gone to Canada and married. I can't wait until they finish it off. kate |

Jayne News on 1911 census: Response to an online petition to release 1911 early; 'The government are working on the release of the 1911 census by 2009.' So it could only be another 2 years away! Brill!! Love Alexandra |
