On Ancestry you can search the 1881 census by address - it's a field on the search form. For any of the other censuses, you have to go to the bottom of the relevant census search page, where the counties are listed, select a county and keep clicking on the links which come up until you've narrowed it down to a fairly specific area. Then you have to trawl through the images one by one, which isn't particularly much fun. Alternatively, you can use the findmypast website to do address searches on some of the censuses (not all are available yet) and the 1901censusonline website to search that particular census by address. Can anybody help me please? I've heard that you can search the censuses by address on ancestry. Is this true and if so, how on earth do you do it? I just cant find the relevant section on Ancestry at all. Thanks Amy |
