Hi I was wondering if there are two Abernethys in Scotland. When I search on scotlandspeople they give me a choice of Abernethy in Moray/Inverness or Perth. On multimap and the atlas there is only one listed near Perth. My guy was the minister of Abernethy free Church down as parish of Abernethy, Kincardine in the county of Inverness, and I have found the family in the Moray/Inverness option. Does anyone know if there are two or is the Abernethy I am looking for an area or another village? Thanks for any info, Karen

Hi There are two. Abernethy and Kincardine is now generally referred to as Nethybridge today. Denis

Using Memory-Map (which is an online map), this is what comes up on a search for Abernethy:- Abernethy - Pth & Kin. Abernethy Bank - Pth & Kin. Abernethy Forest, Highland Abernethy Glen, Pth & Kin. Braes of Abernethy, Highland. Kath. x

Thanks guys, This seems more likely as my Walter Ross married a lass from Aberdeen, so that seems a bit closer. Do you think that would be a village of Nethybridge as his address was Free Church Manse Abernethy? Karen
