You could try and find a marriage for the May Lily born 1910 and see if maybe one of the possible half-brothers is a witness, but this would mean trawling through the marriage indexes quarter by quarter from about 1928 onwards! As Kenney/Kenny is an 'Irish' name it is possible that the May Lily senior was born in Ireland (fairly common name in Galway). Good Luck June. |

Sorry maybe i diddnt make myself clear.... I was thinking that possibly May Lily Kenney(senior) was the MOTHER of the b1910 one....could also be the Mother of the two boys William and John. My theory... May Lily had May Lily out of wedlock. Then went on to marry and have the two boys! That would have made her age roughly 29 at the marriage in 1919. Thanks for your input Gerri. |

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it | Report | 26 Apr 2007 12:52 |
they wouldnt be shown as full age if they were under 21 , they would have need parenatl consent but they would show as minor . its unusual for 1919 marriages to still be showing full age /minor as most by that time showed the age in years. They could have lied of course and said they were 21 plus. You have their dads names and you may be able to find them on the 1901. Do the witness names help in any way Shirley |

By full age, you know they were at least 21, so start with that and work backwards. It was unusual for people to marry later than 21. Also, look in the parish records - women seldom married away from their home. Do you have their death certificates? The death certificates will show who notified the death and how old the person thought they were. Also, if you know where they died, you can contact the council to see if they were cremated or buried etc.. Hope this is of some use. Regards Rachel |

Jill 2011 (aka Warrior Princess of Cilla!) | Report | 26 Apr 2007 12:51 |
If they married in 1919 and were both 'full age' then you could start by 'assuming' (dangerous I know) that they were both at least 21. Therefore, both of them would have been born in 1898/99 or earlier. Problem there is that if they were under 21 and had obtained parents' consent to marriage then they could still be shown as 'full age'. So the above suggestion might not help much! Do you have fathers' occupations from the marriage cert? Jill |

Going backwards as ya do..... I have a family of two boys.. William Thomas Leach.b1922 MMN May Lily Kenney and John Leach 1925 MMN May Kenney Father was William Thomas Leach Married in 1919 (got the cert) to May Kenney both ages 'Full' arghh!! The only May Lily kenney i can find was born 1910 Tonbridge (right area but too young) and her Mothers name was also May Lily kenney. Have I got to wait untill 2011 to see if these are the same family? or is there another way? No one left to ask.. Gerri. |
