I would extend the search years. Some marriages were after the birth of a child. Do you want to post some names, so that other's can look too. Gwyn

Gwyn, No, as far as I know she was only married the once. Not being able to find the marriage is a pain. I've worked through the years from 1818, IGI/parish records up to my g.g.g.grandad being born in 1820. Was hoping the death cert would help. Margaret.

I must admit, I haven't seen a maiden name on a death certificate before 1969. Kath. x

Some do although it might be rare. I had the same problem and ordered my GG Grandmothers death certificate in 1858 and her maiden name was on there.

Did she by chance marry for a 2nd time...but after 1837, when her father's name would be shown on a marriage certificate.? Gwyn

This is why I asked, don't want to send for a cert if the info isn't on it. Margaret.

Hi anyone who may know, Would the death cert for a married woman, give her maiden name in the 1860/70's. I need to know this lady's maiden name to crash through the brick wall. I've tried every avenue to no avail. Her marriage was abt 1818, can't find on parish records or IGI, nor her birth because of lack of maiden name. Any ideas appreciated. Cheers Margaret.
