You cant ''Open'' a Gedcom as such as it is no more than a data file. Do you mean it is opening your Tree program and loading it in there?

Hello Ray. I just tried mine on Ancestry. It gave me the option to open or save. It went through a stage of creating the file and I then had to select the download option. Is yours different? Jim

Hi Jim, I don't know if you'll pick this up seeing as I posted this on Friday... I'm trying to import my tree onto to GR from Ancestry however when I try to download the GEDCOM file from Ancestry it doesn't give me the function to save it and simply opens the file. Would really appreciate it if you or anyone else could give some advice on this!! Many thanks, Ray
