Hi all, does anyone know what records were lost in the 2nd world war? My Dad swears he never had a birth certificate. I CAN find him - born Paddington, 1939- on BMD, so does that mean his record exists for me to get a copy?? |

It was a lot of the WW1 service records that got burnt in a WW2 air raid. those that survive are known as the Burnt records, I dont think BMD,s were lost as these are viewable at the FRC and online. If you have found the GRO ref then you can get a copy. it may be that his parents just lost their original copy in the War but you can get another one Shirley |
