No help to you really but just to say that I have relatives from Madley and they were very keen on being known by a different name, ..perhaps their 2nd given name but they might change about from census to census. As mine were DAVIES it is no joke. eg. My ancestor was registered at birth as Silvey......later married......but died as Jane. Gwyn

have you tried looking with the name spelt as butcher? depending on how it was said/heard depends on what was written down
