Don't know if you are aware but there are parish registers online for the Medway area. They are actual images.... http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/ May not cover the marriage/birth you are seeking but if you have ancestors from that area it may come in handy in the future :) Chris

i think that they are the same person. i just dont know how i can prove it - the fact that there is a birth but no marriage for eleanor elizabeth rudland and a marriage but no birth for selina elizabeth rudland.

I think you just have to accept that her name was written incorrectly. A birth cert for one of her children should give her as Eleanor Elizabeth and she's Eleanor E on the census. I've got the same sort of thing where Ann Preston was married as Ann Hampson but on her son's birth cert her maiden name is Preston.
