Not sure what you mean about Threads and Nudges being tools. A Thread is really just a group of messages under a single topic. So for instance this message is the second entry under your Thread relating to Threads and Nudges. A Nudge however can be useful. A Nudge is simply a new reply to a topic entered to force the topic (thread) to the top of the list. Particularly useful to bring forward threads of general interest such as research tips. It performs the same function as adding a real reply but usually contains just the single word 'Nudge'. After 'nudging' it is good practice to delete the 'nudge' message to avoid clogging the thread with junk. Paul

A THREAD is a topic heading- you have started a thread ,people will reply to your thread, and increase the length of it. A reply on a thread sends it back to the top of the list( board) and a reply with nothing to say or add , which will send it back up , often just says 'nudge' ( if a request isnt anwered and is dropping off the board, nudge is useful)

nudge is also useful if you want to find thread at a later stage by clicking view your threads only then clicking on see all replies Jeanette
