Henry Cripps c1861 on 1881 census when you look at household mebers it is bringing up number 6 & 7 Plimsoll place 2 diff surnames and some relation ship as brother son brother ??? Any ideas

I'm not sure where you are looking but on Ancestry. Henry lives at no.7 with 3 sons and a daughter, there is no one recorded as brother, even at no.6. Saying that though, Henry is only 20 and one of his 'sons' is 14 so not sure what is going on! Sam x

1881 Chas. Cripps 8 Cornelius Cripps 6 Henry Cripps 20 Mary Cripps 10 Sten. Cripps 12 Thomas Cripps 14 The head is not home on census night So Henry is down as head's son.The form has been altered incorrectly.

My take on this is that they are all siblings, the parents are not at home on the census night. We have a similar situation with one of my wife's great grandparents where the eldest daughter aged 7 is shown as Head / Daughter and her siblings as Son or Daughter Their uncle was staying with them so they weren't quite home alone.....!
