Can anyone tell me is there a place named Lock in Ireland,if so where about's is it please.I am looking at the Joice family in the 1861 census. Would anyone be kind enough to give me a second opinion on the place of birth. 1861 census RG9/2549 folio 31 page 10 Patrick & Ann Joice living in Glossop ,Derbyshire .Their name is actually Joyce but its spelt differently in this census.Place of birth looks like LOCK, Ireland. What do you think? Thanks simon

Simon are you sure it is Lock? There is a town called Knock in Co.Mayo, could this be the place? Knock is a small town with a population of only around 600 but has an international airport and is a place of interest as a Catholic Marian Shrine which attracts 100's of pilgrims. Kathleen

Hi Simon, I have sooo many Leivers in my tree from Derbyshire and Notts, maybe we're related. My great great great gran was Eliza Leivers born 1849.
