Is there anyone willing to look at the 1851 census for me? I found my Charles Perkins aged 56 (1795),Waterman Mary Ann 55 (1796), wife Jane 25, daughter Henry Cartwright aged 10, Caroline Smith aged 2. They were living at 10 East Lane, Greenwich. That is what the transcription said, however the image was not very clear and I was not able to tell the relationship of the two children. Also I suspected that Henry was actually 10 months but I am not able to view this again as it was not on my computer. I would be grateful for any help. Kathleen

Thank you Linda, I have sent you a message. Sorry just noticed that you did say it says Henry is 10 months. See that GR still has not sorted the problem of our postings not appearing as they are typed. It should have appeared as a list not all grouped together. Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated. Yes, Henry is definitely 10 months old, relationship is grandson. I'm not sure about the relationship of Caroline, it's either son's child or dau's child but I can't decide which. Margaret

It looks like 'nurse child' under the magnifying glass....?? Linda

Thanks Linda, I suppose that could be a foster-child. As she was 2 a bit old for a 'wet nurse' I would have thought - or maybe not. Thank you Margaret, there are two other daughters and two sons not on that census, Martha would be 21 the two boys 19 and 17 and the youngest daughter 13. Quite possible she could be Martha's daughter. Kathleen

You and me both Linda! I have found a marriage for Martha, however this appears in the June Qtr of 1850 and she doesn't seem to have married a Smith but that doesn't mean much. Will have a look and see if Jane was actually married even though she is still listed as Perkins. Kathleen

I think the image says nurse child for Caroline. This doesn't literally mean someone who was being nursed. It's a term for a foster child. Rose

Nurse child doesn't necessarily need to be suckling. From Old Occupations website Nurse Child - A child being looked after by another family for payment Ozi.
