I have a relly called Charles Burton also known as charles button, who was born in clavering in essex in 1812 but died in baulkham nsw, aus in may 1892. Anyyone alble to tell me how i could find out if he was a convict or if he was there for pleasure? Thanks a bunch |

Hi Eleanor Go to http://www(.)records(.)nsw(.)gov(.)au/archives/indexes_online_3357.asp - remove the brackets. On there you will find links to Convicts and also to both assisted and unassisted passengers into New South Wales in the 19th Century. Also, go to http://www(.)bdm(.)nsw(.)gov(.)au/familyHistory/searchHistoricalRecords.htm for NSW BDM. Choose 'Search Now' and then choose Births and Deaths or Marriages. Good Luck David |
