Looking for the Megranahan family. William b.1854 Ireland and his wife Catherine b.1857 in Liverpool. Children are Joseph b.1882, William b.1885, Francis b.1887 all born West Derby, Liverpool. My grandmother Catherine b.1892 in Liverpool so they should still be in that area but unable to find. Can anybody help? They're on the 1901 census in Essex. Father William and son Joseph not on census but believe they were seamen so maybe out to sea on census night. While waiting I thought I'd check the years of birth. I can't find their births! There is one for a Francis Megranahan but the others are not there. Any suggestions please?? Thanks Maisy

Jim I've just seen that one myself and it could possible be her. I cannot find her brothers though. There is another brother b.1896 in Essex and looking through the BMD I could not find a record of him either. Georgina That is their marriage as I have the certificate but unable to find on 1891 census or as you may have seen my update births of the children!! Never heard of Fanny though.

Thanks Shirely As I said before I don't know who Fanny is, maybe another child who died very young but the marriage and the death are correct. Any suggestions regarding other births? I thought maybe they spelt the name differently as I can't find any of the children but I'm not sure where to look. I've tried ancestry using the soundex and been through pages but can't seem to find anything that looks like it could be them.

Jim you're a star! That's got to be him, he was born in Tilbury but his birth would have been registered in Orsett. Now I've just got to find the rest of them! I'll keep looking but thanks to everyone for your help - I still haven't found them on the census but I'll have to try different variations of their name and hopefully one day... Thanks again Maisy

Maisy if that is Williams death in 1907 & his age is correct then his birth would be around 1860 not 1854? Georgina.

Georgina These are my great grandparents and I've been to visit the gravestone. It's actually incorrect on the register because both the Williams (father and son) are buried together. The father died in 1907 and he was 52 years old and the son in 1953 and he was 68 years old. It's the right one though. Thanks Maisy
