Perhaps Thomas Beech died between census and his wife remarried. George could have been transcribed under the new husbands name.

Hi Oz Bird That looks like Ann alright. I can't find any of them in 1871 either. My Great Grandfather George was a real mystery. The only Census I've found him on is 1891 and 1901 when he was living with my Great Gran. He was in the Army for a lot years which is I think where he was in 1881 but he should be on the others. Checked for variations on surname and for each of the children by first name, year and place of birth + parents given names, but nothing. Sorry. This could be one of the pages missing from Ancestry. Could be worth checking local parish records if you have access.
