I've just recieved the will of my great x 4 grandfather. It's 14 pages long! and I can't make much sense of it.But I can tell that my great x3 grandfather was left nothing! while his half brothers and sister were left a considerable ammount of money.I used to like this family I'm not sure I do any more.Left me feeling rather deflated now. where can I find out how much he left is worht today? Thanks |

Linda Don't assume! Your 3 x GGF may have had a considerable amount of money from his father during his lifetime. Also, property was often inherited by the eldest son, by law and was therefore not mentioned in the will. I have the Will of my 5 x GGF. He does not mention his eldest son but the other nine children all get a good sum of money. The eldest son inherited the farm and everything in it. But this was not mentioned in the will, because either the farm had been handed over before death, or the law of primogeniture was invoked, and that law was above anything a person could will to another. can't believe he isn't even mentioned in the will.every other member of the family is.3 times it mentions the 3 children of my deceased daughter, well she had 4! George my ancestor spent most of his life as a boarder with people while the rest seemed to have lived in luxury. sorry for ranting! |
