When I started adding computer generated trees about 2 years ago I grabbed all the lines that were correct & added them to my tree. I now have so many Collateral lines that my tree has grown to over 25,000 individuals. I need to remove the exterior lines. I spent about a week full time carefully deleting but only lost about 2000 people. I have tried marking & deleting my tree but as they are all are vaguely related I lost the lot. Thank heavens I had a backup. I have no time for research.... I spend my time answering enquiries.... How do I delete them en masse I use Roots magic.. Have access to Family tree Maker & Geno pro. HEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please

Start a new blank tree. Then import from your massive tree a selected person. With Rootsmagic you are then asked whether you want ancestors/descendents plus a bit more detail. It is not too bad but the few duplicates you get can be removed with one of the tools Rootsmagic provides. My tree on the GR has only selected names - carefully ommitting most of the Bailey s for example. It's worth a try, Clive

On Family Tree Maker - go to yourself, then select ''Kinship Report'' from the View menu. This will give you a complete list of all individuals who are related to you. Then, with the Kinship report still open, select ''File'' ... ''Copy/Export Individuals'' and enter a new filename in the dialog box that appears. Your new file will then contain only blood relatives to yourself, and their spouses. All the non-related lines will be removed. Richard
