i have had help on here to find a death of a john millings in 1963 (boston) and wondered if it would show a military number that i have thru a medal card - i can't get to kew for a while and wondered if this could actually help me if i were to purchase it just to prove it it is the one and same person .meanwhile i have to trawl thru marriaage certificates to see if he ever married.

was he still in the services when he died. It all depends too on who registered the death. and whether the info was asked for. I have birth cert of 1904 were the dads army nos was recorded as part of his occupation ,he was a serving soldier at the time. Shirley

HI Would very much doubt his army nos would be on the cert then, cant see any reason why it would be. Have you any connection from WW1 to the cert you found ie marriage children etc. Is it his Army record you looking for because there arent that many that survived from WW1 due to the bombing in WW2 when they were partially destroyed . Those that have survived are held at Kew and known as the burnt records . You may get lucky and his are still available Shirley Have seen you looking for marriage ref too . personally I would get the death cert cos a relation may have reg the death

yes thanks shirley i think i will go for the death certificate as we need to know if there was any relations because he would have been my mil's uncle and as she and her siblings were all put in various homes and didn't find each other until later years - they didn't know of any relations at all and now i am starting to find some - but we are sure there must have been a family secret as they just don't know what happened when they were younger. this john millings was their mothers brother and she died in 1973
